#ThankfulThursday Happy #Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my U.S. readers! Today’s the set day in our country for which we sit down with family and friends over big meals to give thanks for all that we have. My family celebrated on Tuesday because I was scheduled to work today, but that doesn’t mean I’m not still going to observe the tradition of thankfulness on this day celebrating gratitude. Here’s a list of all the things I’m thankful for this year:

  • We have our very own place to call our own, with our very own kitchen that we don’t have to share with anyone else.
  • I’m still employed and helping my family regain our financial foundation.
  • Our van still works and provides us the mobility to get from Point A to all our other points in life.
  • My children are more than spoiled by relatives — they have much to be thankful for (and to clean up).
  • We’re enjoying four seasons.
  • My community loves and supports us.

May your Thanksgiving (or ordinary Thankful Thursday) be a day of appreciation and gratitude!

[Thankful Thursday] Thanksgiving 2011

While I may be going to work today, I’m still bursting with gratitude. Here’s why:

  • I don’t have to work tomorrow — which is Black Friday, the craziest shopping day of the year.
  • I’ll be eating a free plate meal. Mmm, soft, fluffy roll, you are mine!
  • We’ll be celebrating the occasion tomorrow with a full spread (check back tomorrow for a run-down, and perhaps some pictures of items I can prepare ahead of time).
  • My family has a place to live and plenty of food to make us all feel disgustingly bloated.
  • The weather is perfect for turning on the oven all day. In years past, it was a toss up. Usually, we’d have warmer temperatures that left us feeling stuffy and sweaty.

May your plate be filled with delicious, home-made food prepared with love. May your cup be full of a cheery beverage. May you be surrounded by those who bring you joy and comfort. May you have many blessings for which to be thankful. Happy Thanksgiving!

Turkey Countdown

So much to do, so little time:

  • Clean the kitchen floor
  • Wash all the dishes
  • Clean out the fridge
  • Clean the main bathroom
  • Clean the dining room
  • Clean the living room
  • Pick out clothes for me and the kids
  • Buy butter, eggs, cat litter, and anything else needed before Thursday
  • Bake cookies
  • Brine the turkey

Sore muscles or not, I will prevail. Out of curiosity, what do you think I’d be suited for career-wise? Like I said, I’m simply curious.
