When I first saw this opportunity on my PPP dashboard, I was a little confused. I don’t personally wear boots like this — in fact I’m a sneakers kind of girl myself. In August 2006, I celebrated the approaching graduation date with the purchase of a brand new Dell laptop. I justified that I would use her — yes, her — for all my classes during those final classes. Oh, and I did. Enigmatic Shadow — I named her after my first computer (Enigma). I have a soft-spot in my heart for technology. I honestly don’t know how people survived without it. If I’ve got some nagging questions, I turn to Google to search until I’m satisfied with the information I dig up. I keep in touch with people through the internet. I track progress on a plethora of issues. For me, I absolutely love being plugged in — it just feels so comforting. So earlier this year when my first laptop began to really deteriorate, I knew I wanted another Dell. I’m a PC, and I like it that way. The problems between the PCs and Macs are just different, that’s all. It’s a matter of what you’re comfortable with. Now obviously, I got my new laptop before I knew it was probably better to save the money for a particularly tough phase of life. However, I can’t imagine how I would be coping with this difficult time without a working laptop in order to perform a job hunt.
So when I was offered to write about the deals being offered on Dell computers and laptops at Savings.com, I jumped at the chance. I personally got a good 3.5 years of usage out of my first laptop, and in that time I only had to replace the battery once. The DVD drive on that laptop was faulty, and the process to replace it during the warranty period was fairly simple in retrospect.
